Tentative Table of Contents

Frances and I have been busy. First round edits have all gone out. If you didn't get it, please email me ASAP. Some of the stories need a lot of work. But be assured that we still love them. We wouldn't have accepted them otherwise. We also understand that many of you are first-time author newbies. Please feel free to ask either of us questions. Editing is painful, but necessary to really make these stories shine.

We also put together a tentative table of contents for the anthology. Here it is:

(Maybe. Technology hates me today.) We color coded for length, so we don't get too many of the same length close together. We're moving forward with negotiations on the contract, too. I'm excited to see this coming together.

Update!

Hi, people.

Great news- we've got another publisher who's excited to take on our anthology. Cyberwizard Productions has bowed out, too many projects and not enough time or money for them to do it justice. They've been gracious about the process and no hard feelings. Hall Brothers Entertainment has offered to publish Wandering Weeds. We're in negotiation with them now on terms and such.

Edits are proceeding. If you don't hear from me or Frances in the next week or so, please email me and let me know we missed your story. Things have been crazy in my life the last few months and I've dropped more than one thing lately. wanderingweeds@gmail.com

We're hoping to start finalizing this thing soon. I'm aiming for a late spring publication date if we can make it happen. Tumbleweeds are starting to tumble!

Houston, we're green to go!

Good news - we have the green light from the publisher. We've got the acceptances finalized. I'm thinking of shooting for a spring release, but only if we get moving.

Frances and I will be sending out edits in the next month or two. I'll be sending out contracts over the next week or so. If you don't hear from me by the end of November, please send me a message.

I'm excited for this anthology. If any of you know an artist or two who would like to play with illustrations, please send them my way. They'll get the same deal all of us do: discounted copies from the publisher and bragging rights. Details will be spelled out in the contract.

So, yee-haw! Let's beat those weeds back where they belong!

Almost there

I know I keep promising a final list of stories. I apologize. My life has been turned upside-down. We still have two stories we're on the fence about (we'll be in touch soon, promise!), but we've made decisions on all the others. Thank you to everyone who submitted. We had a lot of fun reading all the stories. Writing rejections was one of the hardest things I've ever done. It's a learning experience for us as editors. Frances and I have never done this kind of thing before.

Here's the list of the acceptances in no particular order

The Souls of the Wicked by Francis Pauli
They Call the Wind Mariah by Jaleta Clegg
The Tumbas by M. Pax
Weeds by James Hartley
Tumbleweed by Robert Borski
Cowchip Charlie by Charlene C. Harmon
The Colors of Blood by Kevin J. Childs
Tumblers by M. Baker
Desert Oracles by Katie M John
Feral Tumbleweeds by Monique Guilland
Fair Weather, with a Chance of Tumbleweeds by Andrea Tantillo
Legends of the Tumbleweeds by Duane Ackerson
Garden of Legion by David J. West
Sleeping Beauty by Louise James
Duncan Derring and the Lady Luck by Bryan Thomas
Beyond the Fence by Rebecca L. Brown
Thistle by Terry Alexander
Fun with Weed Eradication by Berin Stephens
I survived the sargasso sea by Eric J. Guignard
Crispy Fried Pickles at the Mad Scientist Café by Katherine Sanger
The Great Tragedy of the Illustrious Empire by Audrey Young
Oh, Dark Tumbleweed by Brian D. Mazur

We'll keep you posted on updates as we work with the publisher.

Update - Almost ready to close subs

Thanks for your patience. Frances and I spent a while discussing stories last week. We have two that we're still on the fence about accepting. Decisions should come later this week. We'll post a list of accepted stories then. We have enough for the word count, although we have room for a few more if you know anyone dying to get in to this volume. They just need to submit them ASAP.

Thanks for writing such fun stories. I'm excited for this collection to hit the shelves. It's a fun one.

Weeds Update

I know we promised a final list soon, but life has a way of interfering with deadlines and emergencies and the flu. We're still working through the files. You should get an email from us in the next few days with the list of accepted stories. Frances and I are also working our way through some initial edits. Once we have the anthology mostly put together, we'll be sending it to Cyberwizard Productions for final typesetting and edits.

Timeline to publication? I don't have a date but I expect it should be sometime early in 2012. We'll be in touch with more information as we have it.

Thanks for your patience!

Captain's Log, stardate April 26

Just a note to let you know we are working on finalizing the anthology. We're reviewing submissions and sending out some rewriting suggestions. This is shaping up to be a fun story fest. Who knew that evil weeds would be such an entertaining topic?

Thanks for all who submitted to us. We appreciate your efforts whether you were accepted or not. Frances and I are both writers, too, so those rejections were hard to write and send out. We have felt your pain.

We should be getting in touch with those who were short-listed and letting you know our decision on your story. Once we have all the acceptances out, I'll post the ToC for you here. This has been a fun journey and definitely another learning experience for me. I'm looking forward to seeing the anthology in print.

For those unsure of the details, the anthology "Wandering Weeds: Tales of Rabid Vegetation" will be published through Cyberwizard Productions. Once we finalize the acceptances, you should receive a contract for your story. We are not offering payment for this anthology, but you will have the option of buying as many discounted copies as you want while the anthology is in print.

Thanks once again to all the talented authors out there. Good luck in your writing!

Acceptances and other good news

Hi. If you've submitted a story to us, you should have heard back. If you haven't, please drop me an email at wanderingweeds@gmail.com.

We're getting the anthology into shape. We've had lots of great stories submitted. Sending out rejections has been the hardest part of editing this. I'm a writer, too, and I know how bad those rejections can sting.

The anthology is almost full. If you know someone who was thinking of writing a story, tell them to hurry and get it submitted. Once we hit our word count of acceptances, we're closing the slush pile.

Thanks for your participation in this. It's been an eye-opening experience for me as a first-time editor.

First round of acceptances will go out Monday

Hi, everyone.

Sorry for such a long wait. Life happened.

We will be contacting everyone next week, so if you submitted and don't get something from us by Friday, please drop me an email. Include the name of your story so I can double check that we have it in our pile. This editing thing is more complicated than I thought, so it's taking longer than we expected.

The anthology is about 2/3 full, so if you know anyone with a story about evil weeds, have them send it in. It doesn't have to be set in the American West or have tumbleweeds, just some kind of evil plant life as the villain.

We're waiting for more good stories to read!
